WELSH OVERLAND SAFARI TOUR

Alcohol Micro Climate & Penrhos including Battle of Pilerth

This tour gives you a taste of local food and drink as well as taking in historical sites and churches and chapels.

A typical tour would start in Cilmeri, and on route to the first stop, you learn about Prince Llewelyn and stories of myth and legend. We stop at St Cewydd, an extraordinarily atmospheric church that escaped the Victorian improvers in Disserth church en route to the Vineyards near Crossgates.

ABOUT THIS MID WALES TOUR

The next stop on our itinerary is Pileth, a place of historical significance. Here, we have the opportunity to learn about and witness the site of the Battle of Bryn Glas (Battle of Pileth), which took place in 1402 between the Welsh and English.

It's a chance to gain insight into this pivotal moment in history. Additionally, we'll visit a beautiful church in Pileth that offers stunning views of the surroundings.

Afterwards, we'll cross the border into Herefordshire, leaving Wales behind. Our destination is the Penrhos distillery, where we can learn about the process of making award-winning gins from locally grown fruits. This distillery is known for its craftsmanship and dedication to creating high-quality spirits.

On our way back, we'll return to Cilmeri. If time permits, we can make a stop at a nearby waterfall called "Water Breaks Its Neck." This natural wonder offers a captivating sight as water cascades down, creating a breathtaking display of nature's power.

Our journey through these locations will give us a glimpse into history, the art of distillation, and the beauty of natural landscapes. It's an opportunity to appreciate the diverse attractions in the English-Welsh borderlands.
