Earlier in the year we ran a Facebook competition for a lucky couple to enjoy a free Welsh Overland Safari tour and a stay our partner accommodation Pwllgwilym Cottages. The competition was very successful and the lucky winners were Ester Chambers and her partner Richard.

Ester and Richard decided to take the Cwm Graig Ddu tour which included a trip to Garth to the Red Kite Viewing Point before crossing the military range and on to the coffee stop at the Brecon Beacons Visitor Centre. We then took in the majestic waterfalls at Ystradfellte after a challenging but rewarding walk. We then travel on to Defynnog to see the 5000 year old Yew tree, returning home to Cilmeri via the mock-German village on the Sennybridge military range.

"This was an absolutely brilliant day out. My partner & I opted for the CWM GRAIG DDU ( BLACK ROCK) TO BRECON BEACONS tour which is a full days adventure, and we were lucky to be spoiled with a sunny day too!

Richard, (the tour guide) was extremely engaging and knowledgeable throughout the tour. He told us so much about local history and also about many Welsh myths and fables about the area. Particular highlights for me were the waterfalls at Ystradfelte and driving through the military range and seeing the mock German village.

Please note for this tour you need to have a good pair of waterproof walking boots and also be reasonably fit as it involves a walking a fair distance and lots of steps! The day was highly entertaining and really gave us an insight into this part of the world. I can't wait to go on another or Richards tours in his luxury minibus! Thank you for a wonderful day and being such a friendly guide"
